Earlier this week Amazon launched Lightsail, it’s very own VPS hosting service.
Contrary to other providers, Amazon decided to keep it plain and simple and offers a flat rate pricing grid with the cheapest VPS going at $5/mo. and the most expensive at $80/mo.
The full pricing grid offered via the Lightsail service can be found below:
Needless to say that the AWS integration makes it very attractive from the point of view of scalability.
To convince people to go for their service the folks at Amazon are providing one month free on the cheapest plan.
The only downside so far is the lack of alternative locations and the fact that only Amazon Linux and Ubuntu are available for deployment. Though this is expected to change in the upcoming months with more locations becoming available and probably other distros too.
